# Apple entwickelt neues Audio-Format für 'adaptive streaming'

Apple arbeitet [laut Guardian](http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/2012/feb/28/apple-audio-file-adaptive-streaming) an einem neuen Audio-Dateiformat, das die kontextabhängige Bereitstellung variabler Dateigrößen für Apple als Cloudmusik-Anbieter erleichtern soll:

> The new system would adjust itself to the bandwidth and storage available on the receiving device.

> It is believed that Apple will use the new file type to upgrade its iTunes Match service, which allows users to re-download music from iCloud to their Apple devices.

Da mobiles Musikhören über Streamingdienste oder den Speicher des mobilen Geräts unter stark unterschiedlichen Bedingungen stattfinden kann (WLAN daheim versus Internetanbindung in der Bahn zum Beispiel und 16GB-iPhone versus 64GB-iPad), ist es nachvollziehbar, dass Apple nach Wegen für mehr Flexibilität sucht.
