# Es beginnt mit Carpooling: Waze auf dem Weg, Googles Uber zu werden

Wie [Reuters berichtet](http://www.reuters.com/article/2015/07/06/us-google-israel-idUSKCN0PG0M320150706), hat [Waze](https://www.waze.com) eine Carpooling-Erweiterung bekommen:

> The new application, called RideWith, will use Waze's navigation system to learn the routes drivers most frequently take to work and match them up with people looking for a ride in the same direction.

Google hat die soziale Kartenapp Waze vor ungefähr 2 Jahren für eine Milliarde US-Dollar übernommen. Das war zunächst ein defensiver Zug, weil Waze mit seinem sozialen Ansatz bezüglich Karten und Verkehr *auch* ein idealer Übernahmekandidat für Facebook war.

Jetzt baut Googe Waze mit einem Carpooling-Feature aus. Google arbeitet seit längerem deutlich auf ein eigenes Uber hin, und nun ist auch klar, wo es eingebaut wird: In Waze.

Reuters:

> "We're conducting a small, private beta test in the greater Tel Aviv area for a carpool concept, but we have nothing further to announce at this time," Waze told Reuters of its foray into the increasingly competitive field of ride-sharing.

> Drivers will be limited to just two journeys a day and will not be able to earn a salary from RideWith, a source close to the company said, differentiating it from businesses such as Uber \[UBER.UL\], where drivers can turn a profit.

Es bleibt abzuwarten, wie schnell Waze expandiert, Funktionen erweitert und so Googles wahre Intentionen deutlich werden.

Denkbar wäre etwa eine googlesche Uber-Konkurrenz, bei der Google auf eine Vermittlungsgebühr verzichtet, Preiskampf also, und mittelfristig über Androidintegrationen und Werbung Geld verdienen will.
