# GNU Social: Facebook-Alternative auf StatusNet-Basis

Danny Piccirillo auf Google Blogoscoped über [GNU Social](http://www.gnu.org/software/social/), ein dezentrales Social Network, das auf die dezentrale Twitter-Alternative StatusNet aufsetzt:

GNU Social will die Funktionalität von [StatusNet](http://status.net/) zu einem vollständigen Social Network erweitern.

Die Aufgabe, es dezentral mit Facebook aufzunehmen, bleibt schwer bis unmöglich. GNU Social klingt aber weitaus vielversprechender als das [mehr Öffentlichkeit bekommende](http://neunetz.wpengine.com/2010/09/16/diaspora-automatisch-gut-dank-open-source/) Diaspora, das neben der kontraproduktiven Wahl des nicht an andere Dienste anschliessenden [Konzepts](http://neunetz.wpengine.com/2010/09/16/diaspora-automatisch-gut-dank-open-source/) und der [eingesetzten Technologien](http://neunetz.wpengine.com/2010/09/17/diaspora-mit-mongodb-und-ruby-on-rails-auf-den-falschen-pferden/) auch eine [fragwürdige Entscheidung bei den eingesetzten Lizenzen](http://jarinheit.posterous.com/diaspora-or-how-to-kill-your-facebook-killer) getroffen hat.
