# Samsung übernimmt TV-Settopbox-Anbieter Boxee

Wie [The Jewish Press berichtet, hat Samsung Boxee übernommen](http://www.jewishpress.com/news/breaking-news/samsung-buys-israeli-web-tv-startup-boxee/2013/07/03/):

Das ist enorm. Samsung ist einer der größten Hersteller weltweit von TV-Geräten. [Boxee](https://www.boxee.tv/) ist einer der wenigen Anbieter, der ein benutzbares Interface für SmartTVs entwickelt hat, neben Roku und AppleTV. Boxee hatte allerdings immer Probleme damit, Inhalte auf die eigene Plattform zu bekommen.

Die Übernahme von Boxee dürfte ein weiteres Puzzleteil in Samsungs Gesamtgegenangebot zu Apples wachsender Plattform werden. Apple dürfte mit einer engeren Verknüpfung von AppleTV und mobilen iOS-Geräten und einem SDK für AppleTV das Wohnzimmer bald übernehmen wollen. (Mit [AirPlay](https://www.apple.com/airplay/) sind sie bereits auf der Hälfte des Weges.)

Mit Boxee hat Samsung als einziger vielleicht so etwas wie eine Antwort auf Apple.
