# Symbian noch immer weitverbreitestes mobiles OS

Was oft in der Debatte rund um Smartphones und dem Aufstieg von iOS und Android vergessen wird: [Symbian](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Symbian%5FOS) ist immer noch nach Marktanteilen von benutzten Geräten gemessen das populärste mobile Betriebsystem.

Die Webnutzung mit Symbian-Geräten ist 2011 sogar überraschenderweise gewachsen [nach Pingdom](http://royal.pingdom.com/2011/12/29/symbian-is-still-top-mobile-os-finished-2011-with-resurgence/), aufbauend auf Zahlen von [StatCounter](http://gs.statcounter.com/#mobile%5Fos-ww-monthly-201101-201112):

> Symbian started and finished 2011 as the undisputed king of mobile OSs. Going from 30.25% in January to 33.59% in December, Symbian made a resurgence in the last two months of the year.

(Randnotiz: Symbian ist ähnlich modular als Plattform konzipiert wie Android. Letzteres könnte mit der Übernahme von Motorola Mobility durch Google eine ähnliche Entwicklung durchleben wie Symbian. Symbian ist [bekanntlich](http://gigaom.com/2011/12/30/symbian-is-alive-and-kicking-for-now/) auf dem absteigenden Ast. Symbian ist besonders beliebt auf günstigen Geräten; und dort baut aktuell Android Marktanteile auf.)
