[Twister ist ein dezentrales Mikroblogging-Tool, das unter anderem auch auf die technische Basis von Bitcoin aufsetzt.](http://twister.net.co/?page%5Fid=25) Aus der FAQ:

The first provides distributed user registration and authentication and is based on the Bitcoin protocol. The second one is a Distributed Hash Table (DHT) overlay network providing key/value storage for user resources and tracker location for the third network. The last network is a collection of possibly disjoint “swarms” of followers, based on the Bittorrent protocol, which can be used for efficient near-instant notification delivery to many users.

Das ist weniger interessant für Menschen in westlichen Ländern.[1](#fn1) Aber [für so etwas wie einen Arabischen Frühling ist es sehr gut](http://neunetz.wpengine.com/2011/02/01/kommunikation-und-organisation-facebook-twitter-und-aegypten/), wenn solche Werkzeuge existieren und notfalls eingesetzt werden können.
