# Warum iCloud nicht für jede App in Frage kommen kann

> The first issue is that iCloud restricts syncing, and thus your application, to iOS and OS X devices exclusively. This probably isn’t much of an issue for many, if not most, kinds of applications that will only ever be on iOS applications, but for others, choosing to use iCloud places an unscalable wall around the application’s data because iCloud offers no way to access the data it stores from the web or other, non-iOS and OS X devices, at least for now.

Für Apps wie zum Beispiel Instapaper, die auf Verfügbarkeit auf allen Geräten und damit auch auf eine Webvariante angewiesen sind, ist iCloud keine Alternative.

Was ich immer sage: Weil plattformunabhängige Anbieter wie Dropbox [Multihoming](http://neunetz.wpengine.com/2010/04/08/wie-multihoming-zweiseitige-maerkte-beeinflusst/) anbieten können, haben sie einen systemimmanenten Vorteil gegenüber konkurrierenden Angeboten von Plattformprovidern, die in manchen Fällen deren Vorteile von vertikaler Integration wieder aufwiegen können.

Damit ist Platz für beide Ansätze. In manchen Bereichen mehr als in anderen.
